our yard looks awful.

its true. it does. it looks awful. we have 2 acres of 2 foot tall weeds, with about 80 fence posts telling us where the trees we planted are at. we have about half an acre of grass that hasn't seen a mower in 3 weeks. we have 2 foot tall grass right against the casa on the south side that will be a mosida rock patio and the beginings of a rock retaining wall and rock path to the garden on the north side. right now it looks like a green war zone. our strawberries and potatoes look REALLY good though. pres did an amazing job digging the furrows on out first 40'x40' garden plot, and the second 40'x40' plot we started is looking pretty amazing too. we just need to get it planted. speaking of the second plot, we named it the genola square, after the bermuda triangle, we have found pop cans, beer bottles, mini pie tins, a 3 1/2' car spring, broken glass, pieces of wire that i'm pretty sure we could stretch around the entire 2.38 acres and make a pretty crappynice fence, not to mention the grocery bags full of animal bones, a couple bird carcass's, and a few t'shirts. oh, and a bunch of broken cement chunks. you know what though? its going to be the cutest little cottage on the block when we finish what we started. our forest will be beautiful, our unfinished rock retaining wall has already added so much and the planter baskets i scored for 5 bucks are hung under the windows and my petunias are just a-growin! we started the retaining wall last night, and got about halfway done, pres is a pro with a shovel, he had the whole trench done in less than 30 minutes, its about 2 feet deep, and 2 1/2 feet wide, we've got a bunch of dirt to move still, but its really going to be beautiful. i forgot to take before pics, but i have some during pics and i'll be sure to take some finished ones too. most of the time we love our little cottage, we only dont when we find something else that's broken haha! i love my preston more than anything, and i have so much fun working on projects with him. i love every minute i get to be with him, even when one of us is grumpy, there's no where else i'd rather be than with my hubbs.

Hey Jennie! I'm glad to hear you're happy and loving it! Your posts always make me smile. I'm hearing you with the 2 feet tall grass.... I'm also trying a garden this year. We'll see how it goes.
